A Spoonful of Writing Helps the Thoughts Come Out

Because I believe writing is healthy and good for you, I am starting this blog. I think the biggest challenge we face as people is living a balanced life. It's hard to be balanced. By balanced, I mean healthy. I think health is a hierarchy, sort of like the old-style food pyramid. The health pyramid has three layers:

1. spiritual
2. mental
3. physical

The foundational layer of spiritual health is the most important. If you do not have a healthy spiritual life, chances are high that one of the other two layers--if not both--will be lacking or amiss, as well. I could elaborate on my philosophies as to why spiritual health is the most important, but I don't really feel the need to do so. My reflections and recorded experiences on this blog will probably answer at some point, or at least explore, this issue.

The next most important layer is mental health. This covers a wide area of topics, the chiefest of which are intellectual and emotional health. Having solid and healthy relationships in your life is a must. Having people who love you, and whom you love in return, is a must. You need love in your life. We all do. Intellectual health is also important, though. You can have healthy relationships in your life, but if the extent of your mental stimulation is Spongebob and video games, you will lack both the delight and the intrigue there is in discovery and personal accomplishment.

Lastly, there is physical health. People don't take this as seriously as they should. If you keep your body healthy, it can help you with every other kind of health there is. When your body is cleansed, refreshed and fueled, you will find that you have more physical and mental control than you had previously. A healthy body is a happy body, and a healthy body is naturally inclined to foster a healthy mind, by which I primarily mean emotional contentment. I believe very strongly in physical health, but it is still a somewhat unfamiliar path along which I am gingerly feeling my way.

This blog, more than my other one, will probably contain far more reflection than it will recorded experiences. If a person's reflections bore you, you may not want to read what I have to say. I promise I will not be offended if that is the case. As digital as we have become, we are still very wordy, yet we say less than we used to, and we don't move as much. The world is full of beautiful speeches but stuttering hands. I would rather be a beautiful hand, but I suppose you will never know here. I'm sorry for that.
